English

Ports are considered as platforms for the economic development of countries. Empirical studies indicate that the impact of port operations and their role in the growth and development of trade infrastructure is undeniable, especially in less developed or developing regions. This research, considering this topic, aims to provide tangible results and prove this impact based on the most significant studies conducted in this field using a review approach. Therefore, studies conducted between 2020 and 2024, specifically over the past four years, have been considered as the basis of the research. The results of all studies indicate a tangible and significant impact of ports on the economic growth and trade infrastructure of countries. These studies are mostly focused on three regions: Africa, the European Union, and China. This impact is more pronounced and significant in Africa and China compared to other parts of the world. Overall, based on the findings of the research, it seems that further development and investment in Iran's ports can contribute to the country's economic development.
