The maritime economy, as one of the key pillars of the global economy, plays an irreplaceable role in sustainable development and strengthening the geoeconomic position of countries. With its privileged geopolitical position and access to open waters, Iran has the potential to become a regional transit and trade hub. This study aims to explain the strategies for developing the maritime economy of the Islamic Republic of Iran based on the strategic role of ports, and examines the factors affecting the promotion of the position of the country's ports in geopolitical and economic competitions. This study is qualitative and conducted with a descriptive-analytical method, and the data were collected through the analysis of written documents (books, scientific articles, specialized reports) and semi-structured interviews with 6 experts in the field of ports and maritime economy. Using the theory of port power and the approach of interpretive analysis and grounded theory, this study answers the question: What are the strategies for developing Iranian ports to realize a maritime economy? The findings show that developing Iran's ports requires a multifaceted approach that includes strengthening physical and logistical infrastructure, smartening port operations, attracting foreign investment, expanding international cooperation, protecting the environment, and developing human capital. These strategies will not only help increase port efficiency, but will also strengthen Iran's position as a key player in the global supply chain and regional geopolitical competition.
