Given the intensity of changes in various fields due to the advancement of science and technology, changes in ports, which are of great importance in the field of imports and exports and the economy of countries, are no exception to this rule. In this regard, there are different models for the development of various ports, and it is necessary for managers to be more familiar with these models to increase the productivity of ports: outsourcing, smartization, network development, Internet of Things, etc. On the other hand, considering the geographical location and strategic importance of Iranian ports, the political conditions prevailing in the region, the existing competition between Iranian ports and neighboring countries, political tensions, and the moment-by-moment progress of rival ports, it is necessary to identify new methods of port development models and use them to improve the performance of ports in the country so that, while having appropriate performance, they can further contribute to the country's progress in the field of economic development, especially the sea-based economy. Therefore, in the present study, given the necessity of port development, researchers seek to theoretically introduce the best port development models in selected ports in the world. The data collection method in the present study is library-based and using paper and electronic resources (Internet, etc.). According to the theoretical studies conducted, the most famous port development models include port cities, port intelligence and automation, and outsourcing.
